The destination atlas

One idea per city.
Five journeys each.

Every screen is a hand-built model layout on an oak table in golden afternoon light. Each city teaches one new piece of track, and every board is measured by a solver, not guessed.

  1. 1

    Lay the track

Set straight and curved pieces on the bare cork, turn them, and find the route that works.

  2. 2

    Send the train

Collect the parcel and deliver it to the station. Hints are free: the first explains, the next performs.

  3. 3

    Bring it home

Five delivered journeys earn the city’s landmark for your own layout.

The Paris board: limestone terraces under zinc roofs, the line with its diamond crossing and tunnel mouth, the train, and the Eiffel Tower on its plinth.

City one · France

Paris

Diamond crossings and tunnel mouths

Pale limestone, zinc mansards and a café’s awning line the street. Two roads cross on one timber-decked square, and the train slips out of sight between dressed stone portals.

Bring home the Eiffel Tower

Tap the tunnel mouth.

The Kyoto board: machiya under tiled eaves, the line with its sprung points, a red parasol and a torii, and the pagoda on its plinth.

City two · Japan

Kyoto

Sprung points

Machiya with lattice fronts, paper lanterns and a tea bench under a red parasol. Sprung points send the train one way, then spring back for the next.

Bring home the five-storey pagoda

Tap the points to flip their arrow.

The Venice board: palazzi in terracotta, ochre and rose, a canal crossed by a drawbridge, a gondola, and St Mark’s campanile on its plinth.

City three · Italy

Venice

Drawbridges and treadles

Palazzi in terracotta, ochre and rose over a canal of muted blue-green. A brass treadle in the cork turns its bascule bridge over as the engine crosses it.

Bring home St Mark’s campanile

Tap the bridge to raise it.

The Jerusalem board: honey limestone houses with domes, the line, the spice stall and oil jars, and the Kotel on its plinth.

City four

Jerusalem

Two parcels, in order

Coursed honey stone, pointed arches behind green grilles, a spice stall and oil jars. Two parcels wait, numbered on brass tags: the first before the second.

Bring home the Kotel

Tap a parcel.

The Prague board: rose, yellow and mint gabled houses under red roofs, the line with its clock turntable, and the Orloj on its plinth.

City five · Czechia

Prague

Clock turntables

Rose, yellow and mint burgher houses under steep red roofs. A clock turntable turns its deck a square at a time, counted on a small brass dial.

Bring home the Orloj, which strikes the hour

Tap the Orloj, or the turntable.

The woodland layout at home with the five landmarks standing along its front: the Eiffel Tower, the pagoda, the campanile, the Kotel and the Orloj.

A place to return to

Your layout grows.
Piece by piece.

Stand every landmark you earn anywhere on the woodland layout’s free ground. Place, Rotate and Save, with Undo and Cancel: a preview never touches your save.

The train slows past what you have built and stops a moment at each landmark with a soft whistle. The Orloj strikes the hour, and once St Mark’s tower is home, a gondola drifts under the bridge.

The banker’s lamp has a switch. So does the tea.

The Dear World Shop: a cabinet of paint tins and fittings, and the engine on its turntable podium.

The Dear World Shop

Every ticket
is earned.

A diorama further along the study’s desk. Tickets from your deliveries buy locomotive liveries, brass fittings, whistles and architectural additions. There is nothing to buy with money.

Livery: Classic

Tap the engine to try another livery.
